“Dan Gabel and The Abletones” is an authentic 18-piece Big Band led by Webster native Dan Gabel, who recently returned from a one year world tour with The Glenn Miller Orchestra as trombonist, soloist, arranger, and band historian. They have a repertoire of more than 4,000 arrangements, and sport a vintage look complete with tuxedos, 1930s period mutes and stand fronts.
Dan Gabel and The Abletones are the real deal– a Big Band that looks and sounds just like the ones that thrilled American audiences in the 1930s and 40s, bringing to the stage a fresh and unique sound. Their first album, Yes Indeed, was released in December 2010 and was met with great critical acclaim. They have opened the fall Brown Bag series at Mechanics Hall, performed for “Jazz at Sunset” at the EcoTarium, and this year willreturn to Memorial Hall in Melrose to celebrate its 100th Anniversary and to the EcoTarium to open their “Live at Sunset” series.
